The FREE (Financial Resilience and Economic Empowerment) Fund opened a call for applications on 9 June 2021!
FREE aims to ensure long-term investment in the economic empowerment of adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) who have been heavily impacted by COVID-19.
While there are existing funds that offer short term support, FREE will offer long-term financial resilience and economic empowerment for AGYW. With a foundational investment from Standard Chartered, the Fund will accelerate progress towards SDG 5 and SDG 8 by increasing the economic opportunities available to AGYW. Applications are open until 7 July 2021.
FREE aims to identify promising initiatives, provide resources to expand and scale existing work, and connect innovators to be able to share solutions. FREE will welcome applications from individuals and groups based in Nigeria, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Bangladesh, Nepal, and The Philippines.
Applications for grants from FREE Fund are open until 7 July 2021
FREE will invest in projects that directly support, cis, trans, non-binary and all other underrepresented groups and communities such as black, indigenous, people of colour, LGBTIQ+, refugees, and migrant adolescent girls and women with or without disabilities, sex workers, aged between 12 to 35 years. Priority will be given to marginalised and underrepresented groups and communities.
