Mashal Hussain

Mashal is from Karachi, Pakistan, and joined Women Win in 2024 to help support Women Win’s Equity and Inclusion in Sport (EQUIS) team. 

 

Mashal has spent about 15 years working at the intersection of sport and development (specifically both the development of football, and development through football) in Pakistan, and has also played at various national levels in her country. Her professional career beyond the pitch includes programming and working with young girls and women in education and sports advocacy and developing resourcing channels for young activists within the global iNGO and grant-making landscape. When she is not online, she runs a women’s football club in Karachi that offers adult womxn a chance to engage in regular recreational play and community development through football. 

 

Her academic journey spans Kinesiology and Gender Studies at McGill University, Business Administration from SZABIST, Pakistan, and culminated in Public Administration and Governance at Harvard University. She is an Acumen Fellow and a licensed coach via the Asian Football Federation. 

 

Outside football, Mashal is always up for a game of tennis, experiments as a barista and potions master in the kitchen, and occasionally performs stand up comedy.
