Girls and women in conflict and post conflict regions around the world are faced with one of the greatest human rights violations: gender-based violence. In these same regions, girls and women are creating spaces to emotionally and physically cope with trauma and build community. This space is being created through sport.
Sport is a powerful, simple, and universal means to stimulate real change among survivors of GBV in conflict and post conflict areas. Sport programmes are universally applicable because they are based mainly on supportive, non-competitive elements and can consist of modules adapted according to the particular needs of the participants. Sport is an international language. To learn more and share what you know about sport as tool to address GBV in conflict and post conflict regions, visit GirlSportGuides.org/Conflict.
